I am pleased to be offering individual Supervision to Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Social Workers on the Integration of Mindfulness into Clinical Practice, which is also recognized by the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec. Attestation for hours of supervision will be provided to you, for submission to the Ordre.
Mindfulness is a practice which has many benefits. It is a way of experiencing greater ease and centeredness in each moment of one’s life. Through connecting with the reality of the moment at hand, we can observe repetitive thought patterns rather than be triggered emotionally or be driven to act by them. It enables greater dis-identification with thoughts and feelings, providing a wider view of options and ability to choose among them.
The practice of Mindfulness is also a beautiful way of experiencing greater peace and calm, and of cultivating an authentic sense of well-being in each moment of our life.
Evidence-based research has shown Mindfulness to be highly effective in the treatment of anxiety, panic disorder, depression, chronic pain and borderline personality disorder.
It not only treats presenting symptoms, but provides a wider, empowered context for living creatively and more freely in all areas of one’s life.
Supervision may pertain to such topics as:
- The nature and insight into the process of Mindfulness
- Alleviation of anxiety and panic disorder
- Treatment of depression and prevention of relapse
- Treatment of burn-out and workplace dissatisfaction
- Tools for lightening and living with chronic pain
- Strategies for addressing borderline personality disorder
- Consideration of specific issues drawn from case material,
i.e. couple and family conflict, parenting, learning and
attention difficulties, lifestyle/career choices etc. through the
perspective of Mindfulness
There is also a refreshing, energizing benefit for the mental health practitioner which is inherent to this model. It provides caring for the caregiver through experiencing how Mindfulness can refresh our therapeutic outlook, refocus our goals and re-energize our vision for the work we do.
Lynda Ryan has been a practicing psychologist and has practiced and taught Mindfulness for more than 30 years. Lynda has trained personally with Jon Kabst-Zinn and Thich Nhat Hanh.
I would be happy to answer your questions and discuss this matter further with you!
